Chacha Nehru wanted all children to be happy, healthy and good at their studies. That is why we celebrate his birthday as Children’s Day.

1-Minute Speech on Children’s Day (Class 3–5)
Good morning to our respected Principal, dear teachers and my dear friends. I wish you all a very Happy Children’s Day!
Every year on 14 November, India celebrates Children’s Day. It is the birthday of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of our country. He was born in 1889 in Allahabad, which is now called Prayagraj. Nehru ji loved children so much that they called him Chacha Nehru.
He believed that children are the future of India. If children get good schools, good food and lots of love, the whole country becomes strong.
Friends, Children’s Day is not only about games and gifts. It is also a day to thank our teachers and parents, who work hard for us every day. Let us promise to study with interest, respect everyone and help those who need us.
Thank you, and Happy Children’s Day!
2-Minute Speech on Children’s Day (Class 4–5)
Good morning to our respected Principal, my dear teachers and all my friends. A very Happy Children’s Day to all of you!
Today is a special day for every child in India. We celebrate Children’s Day on 14 November, the birthday of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. He was born on 14 November 1889 in Allahabad, now known as Prayagraj. His father, Motilal Nehru, was a famous lawyer.
Nehru ji studied in England, but his heart was always with India. He joined Mahatma Gandhi in the freedom struggle and went to jail many times for our country. When India became free on 15 August 1947, he became our first Prime Minister.
Even though he was very busy running the country, Nehru ji always made time for children. He talked to them, laughed with them and listened to their questions. He often wore a red rose on his coat. Children loved him and called him Chacha Nehru. After he passed away in 1964, India decided to celebrate his birthday as Children’s Day.
Friends, Nehru ji believed that the children of today will build the India of tomorrow. So this day is not just for fun. It is also a reminder for us. We must study well, ask questions, keep our surroundings clean and treat everyone with kindness. We should also remember that some children cannot go to school. Sharing our books, toys and time with them is a beautiful way to celebrate.
Let us thank our teachers and parents for their love and care, and let us promise to grow into good human beings.
Thank you, and Happy Children’s Day!
Thought for the Day (Children’s Day Assembly)
A child who asks questions today becomes a builder of tomorrow.
Every child is a little lamp. Give it care, and it will light up the world.
Play with joy, learn with love, and share with a big heart.
Small hands, big dreams — that is what Children’s Day is all about.
Kindness is the best gift a child can give and the best gift a child can get.
Read a little, play a little and smile a lot.
Opening Line for the Anchor

- Put your own name in place of [Name] in the class 1–2 speech.
- Look at the audience, not at the floor, and smile when you say “Happy Children’s Day”.
