1-Minute Christmas Speech (Class 1–4)
Good morning to our respected Principal, dear teachers and my dear friends. Merry Christmas to all of you!
Christmas is celebrated every year on 25 December. On this day, we remember the birth of Jesus Christ. Jesus taught everyone to love one another, to forgive and to help people who are poor or sad.
At Christmas, people decorate a Christmas tree with stars, bells and colourful lights. Children sing carols and wait for Santa Claus, who is said to bring gifts for children. Families bake cakes and share sweets with friends and neighbours.
Friends, the best Christmas gift is not a big box with a ribbon. It is a kind word, a helping hand and a happy smile. This Christmas, let us share what we have with someone who needs it.
Thank you, and Merry Christmas!
3-Minute Christmas Speech for School Assembly (Class 5–8)
A very good morning to our respected Principal, honourable teachers and my dear friends. I wish each one of you a Merry Christmas and a joyful holiday season!
Every year on 25 December, people across the world celebrate Christmas. It is the day Christians remember the birth of Jesus Christ. For many weeks before the festival, markets fill up with red and green decorations, shining stars and little bells. Even in our own city, we can feel the festive mood in the air.
Jesus Christ is remembered for his message of love. He taught people to love their neighbours, to forgive those who hurt them and to care for the poor, the sick and the lonely. These are simple ideas, but they are not always easy to follow. That is why Christmas comes every year — to remind all of us of them again.
Christmas is celebrated in many beautiful ways. On the night of 24 December, called Christmas Eve, many churches hold a special midnight prayer. Families decorate a Christmas tree with lights, stars and small gifts. Groups of children and adults go from house to house singing carols, which are happy songs about the birth of Jesus. In India, homes smell of plum cake and sweets, and the festival is also known as “Bada Din”.
And of course, there is Santa Claus! With his red coat and white beard, Santa is the favourite of every child. The story of Santa is linked to Saint Nicholas, a kind man who was remembered for quietly giving gifts to children and to people in need. So the real lesson of Santa is not about receiving gifts — it is about giving them without expecting anything back.
Friends, Christmas belongs to everyone who believes in kindness. We can all become a Santa this year. We can give our old books and warm clothes to someone who needs them. We can make a card for our grandparents, help a classmate with studies, or simply say sorry and make up with a friend.
Let us light up not just our homes but also our hearts this Christmas. Thank you, and Merry Christmas to all!
Thought for the Day (Christmas Assembly)
A gift wrapped in kindness never goes out of fashion.
Be someone’s Santa this year — give a smile, a helping hand or your time.
The brightest star on a Christmas tree is the love of the people around it.
Opening Line for the Anchor
Good morning, everyone! As the bells ring and the stars shine, we welcome you all to our Christmas celebration, a day of joy, love and sharing.
Tips for Giving the Speech
- Practise the speech aloud 3–4 times. Remember the first line of each part, and the rest becomes easy.
- Speak slowly. The 1-minute speech is about 135 words and the 3-minute speech is about 360 words.
- Small kids can hold a paper star or wear a Santa cap while speaking — it makes the speech fun to watch.
- Put your own name in place of [Name] in the short speech.
- End with a big smile and say “Merry Christmas” loudly and happily.
